The Carbondale Park District was organized by referendum in 1940 and is governed by a board of five elected commissioners, serving four year terms of office, without compensation, pursuant to the provisions of the Park District Code, Illinois Compiled Statutes, 70 ILCS 1205, 1997.
The Carbondale Park District offers a wide variety of programs to fit the needs of the community. The Park District serves a diverse population with a wide range of interests, our programs and services serve infants, preschoolers, youths, teens, adults and seniors, as well as family interests. We offer special events, instructional lessons, free programs and leisure services.
